1. JOURNAL FOCUS
Celebes Nursing Journal (CNJ) is a scientific journal with open access that focuses on nursing science studies specializing in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Disaster Nursing, Community Nursing, Adult Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Maternity Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Nursing Management & Policy.
Each manuscript submitted by authors will be initially reviewed by the editorial team to ensure overall manuscript suitability according to CNJ established guidelines. Manuscripts reviewed by the editorial team will then be passed on to the reviewer team for the review process.

  2. MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
The scope of Celebes Nursing Journal is international; therefore, authors are required to write research reports in accordance with scientific writing standards that are easily understood by readers before submitting their manuscripts.
Every manuscript submitted to the journal's website at https://celebesnursingjournal.com/index.php/CNJ has not been previously submitted for publication to any other journal or outlet.

  1. MAIN TEXT BASED ON THE TYPE OF MANUSCRIPT
Writing rules for the main text based on the manuscript:
  • Abstract
The abstract for all types of manuscripts (original articles and reviews) must be structured with Arial Unicode font at size 10. The abstract structure consists of a single paragraph with 1.0 space and should not contain abbreviations. It should be 150 - 250 words, briefly explaining the Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Clear Conclusions of the study. The abstract should not include references or displayed equations.
    Keywords:
Limited to 3 - 6 words/phrases, in alphabetical order, separated by commas, using terms from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) written in Arial font, size 10 pt, justified left and right.

  • Main Text Content
The main text of all types of manuscripts (original articles and reviews) should be a maximum of 6000 words and a minimum of 4000 words. The main text excludes the Abstract, Tables, Figures, and Reference List.

    The main text includes:
  • Introduction (Arial Unicode, Bold, 11 pt)
The Introduction should clearly identify the research problem, reasons for the study, and relevant issues nationally and internationally. It should address research gaps, the importance of the study, and the reasons for conducting the research. Explain the research relevance to support literature gaps with the author's research, possibly relating to variable relationships with relevant theoretical and empirical evidence. The research objectives should be presented at the end of the statement.
Footnotes are not allowed. Symbols should be written clearly and consistently. Abbreviations must be written in full when first mentioned, followed by the abbreviated term (the introduction is written in Arial font, 10 pt, with 1.0 spacing).

  • Method (Arial Unicode, Bold, 11 pt)
The method in manuscript writing should minimally consist of: Design, Sample Size and Sampling Technique, Instruments, Interventions (if it is an experimental study), Data Collection Process, Analysis, and Research Ethics. The method content should be written in Arial font, 10 pt with 1.0 spacing.

    Design
The research design must clearly state the design used in the study, such as:
  • Descriptive research: cross-sectional/cohort/case-control/survey
  • Experimental research: quasi-experimental/true-experimental/Randomized Control Trial (RCT)
  • Review: meta-analysis/systematic review/literature review/scoping review. Authors using these research designs are encouraged to follow the PRISMA guidelines
  • Mixed methods research should explain the methods clearly
  • Qualitative research. Manuscripts with qualitative research are advised to use the Consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ): a 32-item checklist for interviews and focus groups  or for a more comprehensive review, you can READ HERE.

Writers are advised to use standard reporting guidelines when preparing their manuscripts. Depending on the research design utilized, writers may refer to the guidelines provided by the EQUATOR Network.

    Sample Size and Sampling Technique
    This section should include:
  • Explanation of the target respondents, the number of samples involved with calculations
  • Explanation of the sampling technique used for sample recruitment
  • Explanation of inclusion and exclusion criteria for sample selection
  • Research location and timing of the study

    Data Collection Instruments
The data collection instruments consist of:
  • Clearly explain the instruments used in the research. Specify whether they were developed, adapted, or modified from previous research (cite sources if adapting or modifying instruments from other researchers).
  • Describe the components or items of the instruments, such as Likert scales, Gutman scales, or others.
  • Explain the process of validity and reliability testing with statistical results.

    Intervention (If experimental study)
Explain the process, type, frequency, and duration of the research intervention. Also, describe the type of intervention applied to the control group (if applicable).

    Data Collection Process
In this section, researchers should explain:
  • Describe the data collection process, including when and where data were collected.
  • Explain who collected the data. For instance, if research assistants were involved, describe the process and their roles.

    Analysis
Provide a thorough explanation of the statistical tests used to analyze the data. Mention the use of software if applicable. Researchers can also explain the assumptions made in interpreting the statistical test results.
For qualitative research designs, describe how data are collected and analyzed concurrently until no new themes emerge. Individual interviews and focus group discussions should be transcribed verbatim. It is recommended to use Braun and Clarke (2006) six-phase thematic analysis method for data analysis.

    Research Ethics
Clearly state the name of the ethics committee institution for research approval. Authors also need to outline the process of obtaining informed consent.

  • Results (Arial Unicode, Bold, 11 pt)
The research results describe the characteristics of the samples including age, gender, and other characteristics. In the results section, the research states the findings according to the research objectives. Figures and tables may be presented but not exceeding 5 in total. All tables and figures in the manuscript should be adjusted to fit the column order or full paper size for easy understanding. The discussion of the research results is written in Arial font, 10 pt, with 1.0 spacing.

  • Discussion (Arial Unicode, Bold, 11 pt)
The discussion consists of: explaining the research findings and linking them to theory. Whether the research findings are similar or different from the theory. Furthermore, it should discuss the contribution to new knowledge or the development of theory or previous findings. It should also provide explanations of the research's strengths and limitations and give implications for clinical practice and further research. The discussion review is written in Arial font, 10 pt, with 1.0 spacing.

  • Conclusion (Arial Unicode, Bold, 11 pt)
The conclusion is a summary of the research objectives rather than a summary of the research results. The conclusion is made in a concise, clear, and compact manner based on the results and discussion (maximum 1 page), presented in the form of paragraphs (not numeric). It contains the research findings as a synthesis of the data analysis and discussion results, emphasizing new contributions to the development of health science. It should be noted that there is consistency between the problem, objectives, and conclusion. The conclusion review is written in Arial font, 10 pt, with 1.0 spacing.
