Authorship & Contributorship

1. Purpose and Principles
Authorship reflects academic credit and full responsibility for the integrity of published work. To ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability, the Celebes Nursing Journal (CNJ) adopts the authorship criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the contributorship framework of the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).
These standards guarantee that every named author has made meaningful scholarly contributions and that all contributors are properly acknowledged.

2. Authorship Criteria (ICMJE)
To qualify as an author, individuals must meet all four ICMJE criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
  2. Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;
  3. Final approval of the version to be published;
  4. Accountability for all aspects of the work to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Anyone who does not meet all four criteria must not be listed as an author.

3. Prohibited Authorship Practices
CNJ does not permit:

These constitute publication misconduct and violate COPE and ICMJE ethical guidelines.

4. Contributorship (CRediT Taxonomy)
CNJ requires a clear description of each author’s contribution using the CRediT taxonomy, which includes roles such as:

The journal mandates an “Author Contributions” section specifying each author’s roles according to CRediT categories.

5. Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author ensures the integrity and accuracy of all submission materials. Responsibilities include:

The corresponding author must uphold transparency and act as the central point of accountability.

6. Authorship Changes
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must include:

CNJ will not adjudicate authorship conflicts; such matters must be resolved by the authors’ institutions.

7. Contributors Who Do Not Qualify for Authorship
Individuals who contribute to the work but do not meet ICMJE authorship criteria should be acknowledged. Examples include:

Acknowledgment requires the individual’s consent.

8. Transparency in Funding and COI
All authors must:

These declarations must be included in the manuscript and are essential for maintaining ethical publishing standards.
