Reviewer AI Policy
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly integrated into academic workflows to support tasks such as grammar refinement, formatting, and citation management. While these tools may enhance efficiency, their use in peer review must be carefully controlled to protect confidentiality and ensure that all editorial judgments remain human-driven. The Celebes Nursing Journal (CNJ) allows limited AI assistance but strictly prohibits any use that undermines the integrity, independence, or confidentiality of the review process. This policy aligns with the COPE Position Statement on AI in Peer Review.
1. Allowed Uses
Reviewers may use AI tools only for non-substantive editorial tasks, including:
- Grammar and spell checking
- Improving the clarity of reviewer-written comments
- Reference or formatting checks
2. Prohibited Uses
AI tools must not be used for:
- Summarizing or interpreting manuscript content
- Assessing scientific quality or methodological rigor
- Generating reviewer comments, critiques, or recommendations
- Uploading any part of the manuscript into AI systems, as this violates confidentiality
3. Transparency Requirements
If AI tools are used for minor editorial assistance, reviewers must disclose this in the confidential comments to the editor. Reviewers remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all submitted evaluations.
For general rules on AI usage applicable to all stakeholders, please refer to the journal-wide AI Use Policy under the POLICIES menu.
