Reviewers Guidelines
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the scientific rigor, ethical integrity, and overall publication quality of the Celebes Nursing Journal (CNJ). This guideline outlines reviewer responsibilities, expectations, and professional standards to ensure that all evaluations are fair, objective, and consistent with international best practices.
1. Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to:
- Provide objective, evidence-based, and constructive evaluations
- Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the review
- Evaluate the manuscript’s originality, significance, methodological rigor, clarity, and ethical compliance
- Provide clear recommendations (accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject)
- Submit reviews within the agreed timeframe
- Adhere to COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers
2. General Expectations
Reviewers should:
- Use professional, respectful language
- Avoid personal criticism
- Support comments with citations or rationale when relevant
- Provide comments for the editor and separate comments for authors
- Refrain from suggesting unnecessary self-citations
For additional governance-level policies related to research ethics, peer review, and responsible conduct, reviewers should also refer to the journal’s Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement (PEMS) and Peer Review Policy available under the POLICIES menu.
